Women Warriors

So... I did men serving in the army last night... Today our subject is women in the army or hospital.

Three nurses. I wonder if they just started or if they've been at it a while.

Not sure who this is but I've seen this picture several times.

Not sure who this is. But this is a very  nicely fitted uniform.

Another anonymous but a very pretty dress.

A vivandere. I've seen other pictures of these ladies. I'll try to find some more.

Here! This is a lovely vivandiere uniform.

"Vivandieres have an interesting role in the American Civil War. These brave women traveled with soldiers as mascots or nurses; there are even cases where they fought alongside their male counterparts. A vivandiere could provide creature comforts to the soldiers. The term “Vivandiere”, is derived from a mixture of French and Latin, which literally means “hospitalit..."

Kady Brownell.

"one of 250 women who fought in the Civil War. When the Civil War began, Brownell’s soon-to-be husband, Robert Brownell, enlisted in the 1st Rhode Island Infantry; Brownell was determined to join him. Rhode Island Governor William Sprague accepted her into his unit."

Well, this is all for right now. If I find more pictures of ladies in the war, I will post a "Women Warriors Cont." Hope you enjoy these! :)
