Our Boys (aka those handsome young men)

So... I searched Civil War CDVs this time and found quite a few of soldiers! Uniforms are awesome, aren't they? lol

I promised young men, didn't I?

Nice drummer boy. It looks like his uniform's a  bit big!

Gardner, Charles H. : 1861-1863. Genesee County. Enlisted in company A, Eighth Infantry, as Musician, at Flint, for 3 years, age 14. Mustered Sept. 23, 1861. Detailed as Drummer at Division Headquarters, Nov. 6, 1863. Died Dec. 21, 1863, at Knoxville, Tenn. of wounds received in action Dec. 1, 1863, age 16.

Many 16 year old boys put down false ages and enlisted. There were many, many young boys serving in both armies.

Sweet, isn't he?

What a little sweetheart! Look at his sweet face!

"14-year-old Orion Perseus Howe not only was a Union drummer boy in the 55th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment, he was also a Medal of Honor recipient for his actions at Vicksburg."

"Boys In Blue: Pvt. William Alphonso McLain At the age of 15, William Alphonso McLain joined the Union Army for a one hundred day stint in the 9th Illinois Infantry. The age listed on his papers? Twenty-two. Three years later, William mustered into the Army for another one hundred day tour, this time with the 135th Illinois Infantry. The age listed on his papers?  A more accurate eighteen"

Well! He certainly wanted to fight, didn't he?

Alright, alright, I give in! Here are some 'Real Soldiers'... I suppose they're handsome too, but I think the little boys are just sweet!

JEB Stuart. One of the handsomest men in the Civil War.

2nd Iowa Infantry Man. He's got a lot of hair!

Not sure who this is... but he has his mustache nicely trimmed, doesn't he?

Isn't he smart? ;)

He really is young, isn't he?

"Captain Todd Carter ... killed at the Battle of Franklin, Tenn. He was killed on the family farm, within 100 yds of the house where he was born and where his family sought refuge in the basement. After the battle, with a lantern in hand, his father wandered over the battlefield all night looking for his son. After his body was found, Todd was taken to the house where his mother and sisters cleaned his body and prepared him for burial"

                                                                    Isn't that sad?

Here's a Union officer.

Three musicians... Well I guess this is the end.

I've got to be getting to bed! Enjoy! :)

eta: Oops! One more picture I forgot to share.. This man's handsome too!
